When our client and frequent partner Big Tex Trailers needed a new and exciting way to highlight the benefits and features of one of their best products, the 35SA Big Tex Trailer, they knew exactly who to turn to. They challenged us to craft a story around the kind of lifestyle owners of their trailers lead to be shared on social media and the company website. We found the story of Jordan Shipley, former Longhorn and NFL football player and now Outdoor Channel TV personality and outdoorsman, to be just the right man to reach their audience.

As the spokesperson, Jordan told why he likes the outdoors and what he likes to do when he is there – hunting, fishing, riding his 4-wheeler, camping, ranching, etc. He also explained how his 35SA trailer helps him get to do what he likes outdoors for personal and professional use. The video was more about show than tell – showing the trailer being used for hunting, 4-wheeling, and getting around on the ranch verses telling about the various features of the trailer. We interviewed Jordan, and then built a story around his comments with him on camera and voice over to compliment what was being shown on screen.

The 35SA trailer became one of the characters in Jordan’s outdoor lifestyle story. The story was not about a beautiful trailer, instead a utility trailer that could be used every day under various situations to get the job done – including all the grit, grease and dirt.

Starting way before sunrise, we were able to film the entire video in one day on a ranch in Lampasas, Texas. Filming included a wide variety of styles, including: time laps shots of the sunrise, aerial footage flying over the trailer being pulled behind a pickup truck on the ranch and farm to market road, sweeping handheld footage shot from a Ronin Gimbal Stabilizer, slow motion shots of bow hunting, and Jordan’s interview from a tripod.

Big Tex was more than pleased with the end result, telling DHD that it “Looks amazing!” “Well done!” “Fantastic” “Love the slow motion and drone footage” and our personal favorite, “We haul people’s passions!”. They plan to continue our partnership for more innovative storytelling.
