Alice Osborn, writes this about poetry, “It helps us understand and appreciate the world around us. Poetry’s strength lies in its ability to shed a “sideways” light on the world, so the truth sneaks up on you. No question about it. Poetry teaches us how to live.”

In uncertain times such as these, everyone seems to be seeking not only an understanding of the world around us, but also an appreciation of many of the things we took for granted until recently. While searching the internet for relevant poetry to help inspire our team, Jose Medina, our Lead Director of Photography, ran across a poem by writer Laura Kelly Fanucci featured on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Fanucci’s poem struck a chord with the team. “When I was done reading her poem, I couldn’t help but to take a moment to reflect on my life,” said Jose.

Poetry in Motion

The team at DHD Films was so inspired that we reached out to Fanucci with an idea to bring her poetry to life through video. That video received the same positive reception as the original poem, reaching over 1 million people through Facebook alone. Although Fanucci’s poem had already amassed quite a following on its own, allowing DHD to visually illustrate her work brought a whole new dimension to her words. Fanucci herself said, “Oh my goodness, this is beautiful! I love it so much. Thank you for sharing it with me and creating such beauty.

Moreover, the collaboration is moving audiences all over the world to find hope in these turbulent times. Everyone seems to share a desire to see hope among the current health crisis. We all want to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and we’re proud to be able to use our gifts as storytellers to help uplift everyone affected by the current health crisis.

Everyone Can Help

If there’s something we’ve taken away from the results of our collaboration with Fanucci, it’s that everyone can help. Although we may no all be on the frontlines of the Coronavirus outbreak, we can each use our skills to help each other stay positive, encourage healthy behaviors, and extend an offering of solidarity as we all stay home to help flatten the curve.

If you’re looking for a way to contribute to the positivity, head over to the Healthcare Heroes campaign and do your part to let our healthcare community know that we care.
